Admissions

We're excited that you're ready to shake up the norm! The world needs more parents who recognize the value of an education that dares to be different. Every child is uniquely gifted, and deserves a classroom which acknowledges, honors, and amplifies those gifts. The Socratic Space aims to be just that.

Our community is very small, by design. Admission is selective. Characteristics of children who might be a great fit for our model include:

  • Strong executive function and independence

  • Joyful curiosity and a desire to dig into questions

  • The ability to exercise self-control

  • A desire to be self-directed

  • Able to engage in respectful discourse

  • Possession of a growth mindset

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much is Tuition?

  • Tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year is $8,550. Tuition is calculated on an annual basis. This can be broken into equal monthly payments, which are made regardless of the number of instructional days in any given month.

Are there additional fees?

  •  There are no application or registration fees. Throughout the year, parents may have to make small contributions toward supplies for the Specialty Subjects (fabric for sewing class, for example).

I see that you share your campus with Mighty Oaks Montessori. Are you a Montessori program?

  • Our model shares many of the philosophical tenets of  Montessori, and our interactions with children are informed by Montessori principles. While our multi-age 'freedom within limits' structure and philosophical likeness is strong, we do not employ all of the didactic materials designed by Montessori (though some are used). Our incorporation of educational technology as a means of independent progress is another way in which our model differs from most Montessori elementary programs. Children who have previously attended Montessori schools are likely to enjoy an easy and enjoyable transition to The Socratic Space.
